Yellowstone National Park
Bison exhibit wild behavior like their ancient ancestors, including migration and exploration that result in the use of new habitat areas. These behaviors have enabled the successful restoration of a population that was on the brink of extinction just over a century ago.
When and where they migrate depends on a complex relationship between the abundance of bison, quality and quantity of summer forage, and winter snowpack. In the Yellowstone area, they move from their summer ranges to lower winter ranges as snow accumulates and dense snowpack develops.

A giant fish measuring 1.92 metres long and weighing 104kg has been caught at a reservoir in Huzhou, eastern China’s Zhejiang Province. Speaking about the giant catch, 60-year-old fisherman Wang Baiping said it was the largest he had ever seen. Wang said when he and several villagers used nets to harvest the fish one small boat even tipped over during the struggle to land it. The fish is now being displayed at a local resort pool as a tourist attraction. Doctor Yuan Leha from the Zhejiang Nature Museum said the fish is a black carp and could be as much as 20 years old.Picture: Quirky China News / Rex Features via Telegraph

Seneca Park Zoo has welcomed two African Lion cubs born on March 7. The pair, a male and a female, were born to first time parents Asha and Chester. Soon after their birth, in consultation with the Lion Species Survival Plan (SSP) Program, the Seneca Park Zoo’s animal care staff began hand-raising them. This decision became necessary when the mother stopped nursing and caring for her babies. After two months of care by zoo staff, the cubs will re-join their parents.
